Taumaere

Taumarere is a locality in Northland, New Zealand. State Highway 11 runs through the area. The Kawakawa River runs through Taumarere into the Bay of Islands. The town of Kawakawa is 3 km to the southwest. Paihia is 14 km to the north.
St. Andrew's Church originally stood on the site of the Church Missionary Society's Paihia Mission Station. In 1927 the building was transported by barge and bullock waggon to its present site.

Back in the days the old train that runs Taumarere use to transport coal to ships. But now it cant go over the brige to opua. There also where coal mines that gave coal to the train but now there no more coal mines i wonder why are there no more coal maybe it is because gas is being used in more things like cars or gas heater.
